About the Draft Generic Plan of Management - Crown "Community" Land
A Plan of Management provides a framework for the effective long-term management of public land. A Plan of Management establishes directions for planning, resource management and the ongoing care and maintenance of public land.
The developed Draft Generic Plan of Management – Crown “Community” Land enables the Hills Shire Council to fulfill its legislative requirements for the management of Crown owned “Community” land, where Council acts as the appointed Crown Land Manager.
Council has a series of existing adopted Generic Plans of Management and some site-specific Plans of Management to comply with the requirements of the Local Government Act 1993. Council have historically included Crown land for which Council has been appointed as the Crown Land Manager in its existing suite of Plans of Management. The Draft Generic Plan of Management – Crown “Community” Land incorporates all Crown land managed by Council into a single document supporting a consistent and coordinated management approach.
The Crown “Community” land incorporated into this plan includes a range of parks, reserves, sports fields, and natural areas, many of which are significant at both local and regional levels. These assets are distributed throughout the Shire. In total, this Plan of Management covers 23 Crown land parcels, encompassing more than 476 hectares.
