Proposed Vault Fees - Castle Hill Cemetery

What is proposed?
Council has resolved to purchase two recently built vaults at Castle Hill Cemetery to become new Community Vaults for the public to purchase crypts in.
The vault on Row V, Lot 5 is an “enclosed vault” style that would facilitate 12 burials.

The vault on Row W, Lot 5 is an open “crypt wall” style site that would facilitate 16 burials.

New fees would be required in Council’s Fees and Charges to facilitate crypt site sales, Council is considering the following fee structure.

Please note that the outdoor crypts are designed as double units (2 crypts on each side of each level), however are sold individually and will have a separation of remains put in place by Council at no added cost if unrelated parties choose to purchase an outdoor crypt. The indoor crypts are single units.
The proposed fees include the interment right, burial fee, administration charges, perpetual maintenance, and engraving. The fees do not include the state mandated Interment Industry Levy required to be paid at time of interment.
Should there be any public submissions regarding changes in fees, then a further report will be brought back to Council in February 2025.

How can I purchase a crypt?
Council is currently taking a waitlist for interest parties in buying the crypts. If interested, please email cemeteries@thehills.nsw.gov.au and you will be contacted once the vaults are purchased and fees adopted to finalise your preferred spot.
